No longer a Wedger but I currently run an TVR 'M' with a RV8 engine and LT77 box.
Have changed the remote bushes which has improved the gearchange a lot. However the spring resistance between first and reverse is a bit weak - is there an adjuster?
If I remember well there is a metal clip when you refix the gearstick on top of the gear selector mechanism, and this acts as the spring. Having a look at this and doing a bit of trail and error will probably give what you need.
