Remote linkage bushes
Discussion
Brought a set of the poly linkage bushes from Rimmer Bros with a view to replacing them while my exhaust is off the car. They are a set of 8 bushes, 4 of which look like the correct size. The 4 that fit at the front of the linkage(not on the side) appear to be half the thickness of the ones currently on the car.
Has anyone noticed a size difference in the bushes whilst doing this job? I've not removed anything yet just giving it a good clean but on first appearance they don't seem right.

Just replaced the bushes on my remote and confirm all 8 are the same (when new). Has anyone noticed a size difference in the bushes whilst doing this job? I've not removed anything yet just giving it a good clean but on first appearance they don't seem right.

Thanks for the replies both. Even though the new ones look thinner than the originals I thought they would still do the job but nice to check.
Dave, regarding the gearbox mounting rubbers, mine do look a bit saggy now. Can you do this job in situ then? I did have a look but though I might have to raise the box to undo the mounts.
Thanks

Here's a daft question what and were do the "poly link bushes" go ?
At sometime I am going to have to replace the exhaust it amy be something I may what or need to do.
regards
Stephen
I'm interesting in reading the answer to that as well, my recently purchased 350I is undergoing a rolling 'freshen up' and the gearchange is on my radar!
Is changing the linkage bushes quite an involved job...?
I've got an exhaust blow to fix as well and I'm ok with the spanners...
Thanks,
Martin.

Andy,
Undo the nut at the bottom of each gearbox mount then you have to raise the gearbox with a jack. Then unscrew the mounts from the gearbox.
When refitting, screw mount into gearbox and lower down the gearbox. The awkward bit is getting the mount stud through the chassis plate because the rubber is new and stiff. I used a heavy duty screw driver to lever against the chassis and compress the rubber mount slightly, on one side, until the stud went through the hole.
I'll post a pic of the new mounts and remote linkage bushes later today.
Dave.

To answer both questions, the bushes seem easily accessable with the silencer off but i do have an inspection pit which makes it much easier to get to these bits! I too am waiting for Dave's photo's just to see if there is any differance between the bushes on my box and everyone elses. You can't miss the new bushes, they are yellow!

Dave, thanks for that, great pictures.
The difference between my gearbox mounts and the new ones is scary! Thats a job I will be doing before the exhaust goes back on. Apart from disconecting the prop does the box lift enough without worrying about removing anything else?
Poly bushes look good, where did you get yours from?
Cheers

Well finally got around to replacing the bushes today. Looks like my original assumption was correct. Seems that I have 12 bushes on my remote! For some reason the ones at the front end of the remote linkage have been doubled up.
Now I have a bit of a problem, the new poly ones would not compress as much as the rubber ones but one on its own looks to be to thin! Can't think why the gap is bigger than standard. Replaced the side ones as in Dave's photo no problem.
Has anyone ever come across this on an LT77?
