Hi, Anyone know if a 350 i exhaust set up will fit a 390 se coz ive got the chance of a stainless system from a 350 but it doesnt have the two little back boxs that are fitted on the 390 immediately before the two tail pipes.

Will this adversely effect performance or are the two extra back boxs just for sound dampening,

Appreciate any advice or anything to contribute fire away.

My '87 390 has no back boxes and only one tailpipe! The systems should be pretty much interchangeable between cars with the same engine (V8, V6 etc), just depends on what tailpipe holes you have (and how much noise you like to make biggrin ).

Paul,

My late 88 390se exhaust sounds like its the same as wedg1e's.
My exhaust is off the car at the moment if you want me to take some pix and post up for you.
I see you are in Lancs, I'm in Southport, you could always drop in if you are not too far away.

Dave.

I'm thinking the car is an early one ? I have seen a car with twin outlets, but I think they're unusual.
Later models appear to have the 400SE type system....1 centre box and then a bloody big drainpipe. New system going on mine tomorrow.

Paul,

YHM.
Pipes are 2" inlet to silencer and 2 1/2" outlet from silencer.

Dave.

Hey, Thanks for the pictures and the info.

I've been busy putting new garage doors on to keep the beast warm.

Happy days.
