I went into my local Modelzone today and they have a new item in stock, namely a TVR Tasmin convertible in 1/43 scale.

Its a reddish brown coloured model of an early 280i/350i with gold multi spoke alloys.

I attempted to get a pic on my phone but its hideous quality mainly not having a macro function! I'll post it below anyway as a rough idea of what it looks like.

The model is not on their website as yet and its quite steeply priced at £36. The detail on it for that price is lovely though and really nice for a collector. If it had been a 400SE or SEAC I would have snapped it up straight away!!

Spark have also announced they are going to make a Blue 390SE and Red 450SEAC ( the SEAC picture looks like a 400se though, so dont get your hopes up)

Why are people so fking ignorant ?

Takes a few seconds on google to find out what a SEAC looks like. ranting

Same with stupid motor traders calling 400SEs Tasmins.

Sorry...feeling grumpy. grumpy

Hi

I have to admit to having the mentioned model! (Wife got it as a surprise for me!)

I will describe it and it's faults!!!!!!!

Firstly it's called a T350! not 350i
From the front it's a early 350i then the bonnet is a cross between a early Tasmin and and early 350i. The door mirrors are early type not pod type. It has twin fuel fillers! and the rear bumber is pre 350i with twin exhaust like the early Tasmin!
The wheels are correct!
But I am not certain about the car's colour scheme!

Now to the interior.
This looks like an early car's colour and layout so would be correct for an early 350i

Overall it's a Tasmin shape! What else can I say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the other TVR models in the range are the same I would say the were built by TVR as they are defiantly bittser's

I guess it depends on the 'master' car they used for the dimensions... if it had that mix of parts then that's what they'd asssume they all had.

I think quite simply they have called it the wrong thing....

What they have is a Tasmin of either 200 or 280i flavour.... its as simple as that.

I've had a quick look through a couple of TVR books and on page 81 of John Tipler's book 'TVR The Complete Story' is a picture of a Tasmin 200 which is identical to this model. A quick google search also throws up plenty of 200 and 280i's looking identical to this model as well.

It may not be historically perfect, but its a bloody good model and i cant see anyone else producing any bearing in mind the limited appeal.

Tony (350wedge)

You are nearly correct apart from the front were they got it correct 350i driving lights, these were not normail fitted to Tasmin 200 & 280i but the rest could be a 200/280i

I did think that too, despite my moaning.

Maybe I can put one in the garage until I can buy another full size version. hehe

Don't think it's a 200 as I think these were made a little later and don't have the exposed filler caps. Cheers Steve.

Tasmin 200 convertibles were available from 1981 and taken out of production in 1984 according to the production figures I have to hand smile

I agree with the filler caps as the later 200's had an enclosed filler like the newer wedges. The S1 Tasmin 200 did have the exposed filler caps though as far as I can tell (as well as some S2 Coupe's).

I thought those chrome fillers were more stylish.

Even the so-called 'entry level' S-Series had a smart flip up external filler...probably lockable too.

My old chassis no.10, S1 fhc smile
