450SE - The Growler - interior advice needed
Discussion
Morning all
Brown nose comments to all the regular wedge posters as i will be on here a lot methinks lol
The Growler is now three weeks into his new home and has had a deep leather clean and freshen up inside !!
I need to know if anyone has details or a picture of how the heater controls work as i just have the black metal plate in the centre console and then whilst the dash is off i can have a look at the heater fans and matrix for demisting etc
It looks like left is cold and right is hot but which control ( metal sticky out bit ) does which !!
I wont even ask about the million wires hanging everywhere and will put it down to "character"
I also would love some chrome rear struts like i had on my griff as i fitted these on to my first 350I. One of the current struts is broken so they have to be replaced anyhoo.....
I also need to replace the carpets throughout so does anyone know if they are sold inkit form so i can put them in myself or has anyone had a replacemnt done recently with a price guide and feedback on who did the job ???
The seatbelt dosent retract on the drivers side so i will take this to bits and see what i can find unless anyone knows if this is a normal problem !
I would also like to find a replacement screen as it has delaminated and would rather not use the normal insurance route unless this is a good option I have a £50 xs if i use an approved company or £100 if i choose to get it done where i want.
WOW thats all i need for the inside then LMAO
Pics are on the older thread i posted recently so you can see what its like
WHY DID I BUY IT ????
Just listen to the engine and the grin will tell you why

Heater controls are (or should be):-
Top one - Moved to far left is demist and far right for the "cabin".
Bottom one - Moved to far left for cold and far right for heat.
As for carpets etc there is a firm called "Woolies" (google them) for interior stuff or D&C Trim in the old TVR Buildings in Blackpool that do a very good job.

Hi
i have recently recarpeted my 400se, i ended up buying the carpet and making it myself, as i couldn't find anyone who supplied a set ready to fit in a wedge. The carpet came from 'coverdale' (80/20 wool) and cost around £230 inc underlay (6 or 7 meters?). Once the pieces were cut out, i took them to a local car trimmer for edging in leatherette, this cost around £50. Total cost around £300 inc glue. I had a quote of £600 from a local tvr specialist for making and fiting.
Re the seatbelt, at the bottom where it winds up, there are 2 plasic covers (either side of the spool). Inside 1 there is a ball bearing in a nylon cup which may well be sticking and need cleaning/oiling etc, this is the mechanism that locks when the belt is pulled sharply. Becareful as the other side contains a very long spring which is round up inside the casing, trust me you don't want this to come out (memories from a Griffith i had!)

Thanks broadside
I can at least try and demist the screen now !!!
Thanks also for the companies i will contact them for quotes
Johntom - I will have a go at the seatbelts this weekend as judging by the rest of the car it will definately need a clean out !!
I dont think i am practical enough to remake all the carpets myself but as the budget creeps up i may end up having a go !!
WHOOHOO
Just bought two roof struts so can go out in the rain and also two new boot struts so i wont lose my hands everytime i open the boot !!!
Thanks for your advice guys

The company that replaced the rear window and roof material and re carpeted my old 450SE used midnight blue wilton carpet everywhere except the footwells as he knew that TVR's leak! used an identical shade and feel carpet but synthetic so it would not rot in future only in the footwells and floor areas.
Also changed out the roof struts for the far better Griffith alloy type as the mounting holes are in a different place. The new carpet obviously covered the old holes. Used West Country Trimmers Devon way.
