450SE - The Growler - Rolling Road and Tune
Discussion
The Growler is going to a rolling road for a power run and then a tune as the car seems overly lumpy and seems to struggle after about 4500 revs through the range
The previous owner replaced the airflow meter and then didnt set her up so it will be interesting to se what comes out of the session ( hopefully not the pistons )
I guess I may only have around 240 bhp as seems a long way away from the grff i had i wondered what do the other 450SE's out there make so i can at least have an idea of what we should be aiming for.
I will let you know how it goes

Could be a lack of fuel at the top end.
Make sure you have had a new fuel filter fitted recently, possible other issues
could be incorrect fuel pressure or fuel pump on it's way out.
Good luck on the rolling road though - it should show up what the issue is.

Last year my 450 was putting out 200BHP at the wheels and 238BHP at the flywheel. I was not convinced after the rolling road session that she was running spot on. A further tune up this year by someone who actually knows what they were doing made it feel much better, but I don't have any figures to substantiate that as it was not set up on a rolling road this time. I think with a new top end and a new ECU it would be capable of a reasonable increase in BHP but no where near TVRs quoted figure of 319BHP for the 450SE.

Maybe 240 is a bit ambitious then !!
Have booked in for next tuesday
Then the truth will be bared :-(
Thanks for all the info at least i have something to aim at and the fueling seems to be the big thing to sort first
Thanks all
Ty
Most 400SE's that are set-up right will do 240BHP so you should be able to get a bit more with a 450.Maybe 240 is a bit ambitious then !!

I'm hopping to get 300BHP from my 4.5/4.6 Racer but that's with a lots of mods and a Emerald ECU

Hey All...
Just dug my Rolling Road page out from BBWF 2008 and my 400 Made 249.9bhp at the wheels and 277 FtLb of torque...
Just posting the size of my manhood!
At the wheels!! That sounds like a flywheel figure for a good 400. That must be either a large capacity lump or a very special 4 litre.Just dug my Rolling Road page out from BBWF 2008 and my 400 Made 249.9bhp at the wheels and 277 FtLb of torque...

In 07 my 4.5 J.E. engined Wedge made 202 at the wheels & 250ft/lbs at the wheels.

Always amazes me how much TVR's vary e.g. Growl results from 2009 (I don't know about mods)
