Update And Gratuitous Photos
Discussion
Hi folks.
I just thought I'd give a little update on the 1989 350I that I purchased back in February.
The good news is, it's still my only car and my daily transport, so that's a good start!
I've replaced the speedo cable (and it recently packed up again), headlamp switch, clutch cylinders, some fuel hoses & filter, engine oil, filters and spark plugs, fitted rose jointed anti roll bar links and poly roll bar mounting bushes and a few other odss and ends.
It still needs work, handbrake pads (one side doesn't have any fitted , as I found out today!!!), exhaust blow requiring removal of the right hand manifold and a bit of welding, and generally a load more t.l.c., especially if the weather stays nice like it was this weekend!
I still love it, despite it's little 'TVRisms', and that noise is still music to my ears (I've still not fitted a cd player)!
For what it was worth (the paintwork is very tatty), I spent a large part of this weekend polishing car and glass, cleaning and next day balming the leather etc.
So I took it up to a local industrial estate (with a nice long entrance road) and took some pics in the afternoon sun:

Thanks!
It was more luck than judgement really, apart from I knew where I wanted the sun to be in relation to the car, and I happened to get to where I was at a good time of day.
I only use a five year-old middle of the range digital camera set to 'auto', nothing fancy.
I must admit, I was pleasently surprised at how well they came out, even if I do say so myself!
The photos also make the wheels look in unrealaistically good condition!

I would've got one with a bigger engine, I have owned and driven plenty of faster cars than the 350i, but my budget wouldn't allow it at the time.
Maybe in a couple of years I might think about a bigger, badder car!
Some of my mates are slightly baffled by me buying this, but I've given up on being obsessed with quarter mile times and I just want to have some fun.

Hi Rick, and thanks.
Yeah, I try and arrive at and leave work as loudly as possible (unless I'm late in)!
A few of my colleagues also appreciate it.
The black Monaro VXR over your way is louder though, I think!?
That's the company owner's... Personally, I think it has a bit of a 'tinny' note to it, whilst the Wedge is all bass-line!Yeah, I try and arrive at and leave work as loudly as possible (unless I'm late in)!

Cheers...haven't seen that clip before.
Fantastic sounding pipes!
Blackpool ?
My 400 was 120 at 6,000rpm, 108 at 4,000 (at Blackpool).
You were wielding the sound meter weren't you ?
The present 390 flapper pops and bangs like a goodun, one of the best I've heard...missed that on the hotwire.

Hi Graham, clip was from Ettington..2008, it wasnt me on the soundmeter then, i did it last year at blackpool.....still got all the readings, Pauls 450 came out tops with 122.2 with Carob hot on his heels with 122.1 and mine was a big fat zero due to the loss of oil pump drive!
