The Tasmin Lives Again!!!!
Discussion
gents, After 2 years of sitting outside my house my 2.0 pinto ( no sniggering you V8 boys ) Taz is taxed and Mot'd. The little beauty had sat for 8 years in a garage with a blown head gasket, I bought it with an 'MOT' - suffice to say not worth the paper it was written on ( for instance it had no wing mirrors, binding brakes etc etc but yet had a ticket)
Anyway , who cares , it's back on the road. And not for much ££. Mind you the hood is from a later 350i ( rear section ) and does'ent quite fit , but who needs a hood in London summer time anyway.
First proper drive last night , and it really goes , I mean it, coming from MGB's I find it a little bit of a brute , but god knows great fun and with an almost straight through exhaust cobbled together from bits of wavin pipe it sounds great. I drive a V8 disco , so lord alone knows how you guys keep the bigger ones out of the ditch.

I too am a new 200 owner (8 months). I have replaced the shockers, cleaned and protected the chassis and just finishing off the body work. But learnt today that unfortunately the Pinto is burning oil. I might just live with it is running fine although am interested in the Cosworth alternative. I have a 5 speed box and wondered if the Cosworth 2.0 will fit. My Tasmin is an 1984 2.0 OHC engine model 3505E.
Also my battery is underpowered but the size of todays batteries of 175mm is too big e.g. the maximum width is 160mm in the engine bay has anybody found a battery of 50 to 60 amps that is small?

Some of the Racers use Cosworth 2.0 turbo Engines so should fit without a problem.
Also Redtop do very small race batteries they are expensive though, but have a lot of power, and very good life for such a small unit.

Roger, I'm running a 200 with a Cosworth engine. The engine will fit but there are a couple of problems... the main one being the standard plenum catching on the chassis. Drop me an email through my profile if you want to know what's involved.
The battery size is a problem. I think Degz (not sure if he's still around) found one off some obscure car that just fitted in the gap. It was a special size for that car and not a standard size.
The other thing I have considered is dishing the inner wing (as with some of the later cars) but not sure what's involved.
Cheers Steve
