What Gearbox ?
Discussion
There were 2 types of gearbox for the Wedge V6, the four speed ‘E’ and the five ‘N’. The 5 speed is known as the T9 and there have been 36 different versions made.
A 4 cylinder T9 will fit up to the V6 engine but the input shaft will be too short. There are 2 basic lengths of input shaft excluding diesel Granada’s and Transits. From the gearbox face they are either 175mm or 208mm and the V6 needs the T9 with the longer shaft. The output shafts all seem to have the same number of splines.
I changed mine to a five speed without any difficulty except for the speedo drive at the gearbox end which is different but I mine came from a crashed Tasmin so that I knew it would fit.
