Get them to paint them on before they lacquer the car, then they will never come off.

I would think the paint route is the way to go. Contemporary Alpinas used to have some really lairy side stripes on them. Check out the lairy E21. I think this is the krauts trying to be cool and dnow with the kids but in a terribly regimented way... Bless.

Wyn, I have 3 different colours of original 3M pinstripes. Maroon, navy blue and a coppery gold colour. 3M stopped distributing them in the UK but I found I could still get them in the 'States, however this was a few years ago and it may be getting harder to find them. If it's for a 400SE style car you need 14m of stripes as they are all over the place.

Neil Brown (aka Viper) at Racegraphics can now do tasmin stripes.

http://www.racegraphics.net/page14.html

I had managed to buy a NOS set in the wrong colour so I sent them to him and he "copied" them.

I should have them later today.

Was a good price too.

I have now got the stripes and they look good....Also got my Blue "template" set back if anone wants a set in Blue?

rev, that's got to be the best paint job EVER on a Wedge, and really suits the 'mood' of the car.
That frontal treatment is just plain loud and scary. cloud9

Thanks - to be truthful, I only did it for a laugh as I wanted a Le Mans paint
job .. then the car broke down at Arnage on a beer run .. so not so happy.

I did the paint myself in my rather too small garage with the car on dollys - with
me pushing the car from side to side in the garage to get enough room to spray.

Garage door is 7 foot 6 inches to give you an idea of size.

On the subject of stripes.....does anyone know the best way to apply the tasmin stripes, or better still know someone who can do them for me for a small fee? (Preferably near Berkshire/South of England)

I'm in no rush, and thought I had a "man that can" who used to work for a company doing this kind of thing, he doesn't want to do my long stripes as he's "out of practice".

Ideally I'd like to let the paint settle before I put the decals/stripes on (I assume this is a prudent measure) but would be nice to have the wedge looking the part for Classic Le Mans in July.

Glad to help Norman, deffo leave the paint to cure as long as you can before applying. Fixing the new tasmin stripes wont be to difficult just a couple of hours work, i know a great stripe guy who works south of Luton if your struggling and dont fancy the task yourself. But it is just a case of peel and stick

as Norman said, after borrowing his OE's stripes i now have the lot in-putted into my PC ready to cut, if anyone requires a set
