Well apart from a few odds and sods the wedge is pretty much ready to start testing on the road,ya know drive around the block a few times then keep stretching it a bit further until we reach Wedgefest2010,however im not convinced the heater matrix is sound so just how much have i got to strip out to remove it and replace it,uncomplicated answers greatly received,ta

I've been playing around with my heater system and have posted some pics on this thread, including some of the heater matrix.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I've learnt that you will never get warm air through the 2 dash vents due to the path the air takes in the heater box. It pretty much just gets blown in and straight out again, bypassing the matrix. A little bit of air can be directed through the matrix, but nothing to make any real difference.

The air that goes to the windscreen and footwell vents should be warm though as this is forced to go through the matrix. Whilst the air flow to the windscreen vents will probably be quite limited, if this air is warm then the matrix is probably doing its job.

Don't forget that in the engine bay, you may have a valve in the pipe that goes to the matrix. This can be open or shut, depending on if you want warm air in the cabin or not. Its normally towards the back of the engine and will be in the pipe that goes through the firewall.

If you think its leaking you could always bridge the hoses with a bit of 15mm copper pipe for now, then sort the matrix later. Solder a copper O ring onto the end of each bit of pipe to stop the hoses popping off.

Check out the car heater and optional plenum: http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/heatac-95-c.asp

I'm seriously tempted (while my body is off chassis and engine bay is empty) to completely do away with the TVR heater and install this more compact and powerful unit.

Cheers for the replies, thats a really useful thread Dan especially with the photo's,and yes Phil i could also be tempted with the alternative heater options so thanks for info.If i can get it to Ettington Chase and there is a leak i may just bypass it for time being.
