Just had a letter that stating that they will be unable to renew my insurance on the wedge due to underwriter problems. Anyone else had this letter??? any suggestions for cheap classic insurance firms will be greatly appreciated also lads and lasses.

Announced about 6 months ago that they were pulling out of insuring all TVR's built from 1980 onwards. Classicline for me - way cheaper than anybody else for equivalent cover. I wouldn't even bother with Flux, particularly their TVRCC approved scheme - the premiums are a joke.

7.

Flux for me this year. As cheap as all the rest (including Hagerty last year before the cut off) but with 'commuting' on the policy too so I can use it as my daily driver. So well worth having a quote from them all. thumbup
Oh & they do a monthly payment option too if you need it.

Some people have be able to re-new, as some people there say they are renewing polices just not giving new ones.

A couple of points that I picked up. Decide whether this will be your everyday car and whether you want to drive another car under the third-party rules. My Hagerty's policy was governed by having another car insured and when I sold that, they suspended my insurance with seven days grace.

I tried to get a quote out of RH but they needed every detail of a previous accident including the cost of repairs or they wouldn't quote. (It was a company car).
The fact that I have power steering as a modification was also a problem - they have a list of mods allowed - if its not on there you can't get a quote.
(It's a V8S - Power steering was never fitted to any models).

I just couldn't be arsed in the end and went with Classicline.

Jeff,
What do you need insurance for, the wedge is stuck in the garage not laugh or is the driveway finished !!! Classicline for me, modded TVR with 5 litre lump, still fighting HOB's claim but they came up with a price I was paying for HOB with flux !!!
Hope you and Kim are fine and catch up soon
Cheers
Hamish

Hagerty used to be fantastic but from what i can understand, they have been caught short with insuring some young people who over cooked it!

They insured me on my wedge for 3 years starting when i was 22!
