WANTED (one of those wedgey looking things)
Discussion
I know this is not the right page to advertise wants, but im only a novice wedger, so please excuse my bare faced cheek.
I have about £3K, and I would possibly prefer a SE, which I believe has a slightly rounder syling in the bodyshape, allthough lookig at various pics I cant see much difference apart from spoiler and skirts. (anyone?)
I appreciate that 3k aint gonna buy much, so I just thought I would let you all know my wants list. I am not against a 350i , just that Ive had one, and it had a 3.9 lump, which was fantastico, allthough the gearbox was shagged.
I quite like the 2.8 tasmin (are these available as a convertible ?
(yes Im wedge ignorant im afraid, with a short memory, fact is ive had so many classic cars ive forgotten the wedge scene if that makes sense)
My wish list.
Any colour but Red (sorry red lovers)
Paint dont have to be perfect, can paint later
Auto Box would be nice
cream or grey interior in good order
generally in good order with full MOT
maybe having had restoration in past.
Must have good frame, hate welding and paying for welding
May add to this later.

What other classics have you had Don?
Your post does seem a little 'up down/confused' especially as you have owned one?
The SE's are more rounded, the end nose bit with the indicators in is no longer an extended piece but integral and more rounded edges. The wings themselves don't have quite the pronounced kick as the earlier cars.
SE lights are square, and don't need to raise quite so high when operated. Looks better aesthetically imo.
Do you have pictures of your old 350/390 lump?
Tbh 3k is not going to get you an 400SE that is auto, with good chassis that needs no welding, and that has had a resto.
You'd need to double your budget to tick all those boxes.

Slight correction Wayne. ...sorry.
Only the 400SEs and 450SEs had the square headlights and the flush (bumperless) nose. All other Wedges had/have round headlights under longer covers.
Series one and series two 390SEs...lots of differences between them body-wise.
tvrwedgepages is a good place for the OP to compare models, as lots of pics on there.

Im gonna jump in here if its ok. If not just let me know and i'll gladly open up a new thread. Im also considering a wedge. I have roughly double the budget and am a Sunday polisher. I noticed the 450se thats just been advertised in the classifieds. Anyone know anything of it?
Thanks
Mike
