The Wedge needs new rubber on all four quarters..
There's a mixture on there at the mo Falkens on the front and bringing up the rear
Bridgestone S0's.Shes a right handful in the wet, but OKish in the dry now the geo wheelie thing has been done for the umpteenth time.
So I thought Toyo Proxes could be the way to go.
Gentleman what you all reckon then?

A lot of Griff and Chim's seem to use Goodyear R1's, I use them on my A3 also, and are a very good allround tyre plus give quite good life. T1R's will give better dry grip, will not last as long or be as good in the wet. or you could go R888's slightly more extreme then T1R's very good if you want to do some track days.
Hiya, I can recommend Toyo's but they are similar to Bridgestone SO's. Do you have SO2's or 3's? Maybe they are a bit old and have gone a bit hard? Usually they have good grip.
Bear in mind that the Wedge is light and any tyre will break away on the rear in the wet if you give it some stick.

The crucial thing is what size wheels are you running? If it's 16", I would go for Toyo Proxes. I'm running the T1S all round on mine, and I use T1R on our Accord.
If you have 15" wheels, unfortunately you're in the same situation as many Wedgers, me included: TVR specified a Z rated tyre for the 400 / 450 cars. Unfortunately, there is a very restricted market for Z rated tyres in that diameter. Some people have gone for tyres in a V rating (subject to insurers agreement) but I don't take chances with tyres, and would always go for a W or Z - it's not just the max speed of the vehicle, but all the other loadings that get put into a tyre by a vehicle.
Hence why I'm contemplating getting a set of aftermarket wheels in 16".

Apparently I should also be using Century Supreme Synthetic oil in the Engine... that's me warrentee buggered then

Like you I'm on 15's ....tomorrow I'll take it up with my insurance peeps
Do girls get let off as they won't/can't go at Z rated speeds

Anyway I'm going for the Toyo's at £101:77 per corner ...seems a fair price to me

If that's fitted that's a good price - with Blackcircles they're £110 each - I assume that you're going for the V rated tyre?Apparently I should also be using Century Supreme Synthetic oil in the Engine... that's me warrentee buggered then

BTW, it's not that you need to use Z / W for insurance purposes, but that fitting something, particularly safety related, contrary to the manufacturer's specification would definitely be regarded as a modification, and should therefore be notified to your insurer. Whether they agree that it's acceptable is up to them, but I gather other TVR owners (even Griff / Chim) have the same problem and have gone down the same route.

BTW, your car looks very like my own colour combo: Ruby Mica Red with Doeskin?

Investigations ongoing here as well. Standard 15 inch wheels and 350i only needs V-rated. Stuff out there I am considering: falken 912, vredestein sportrac 3. Seems to be good value for money, as in not too expensive.
Problem always is that you only find out how they realy are (and if you like them) when you have them on the car...

I know that the sales literature says Z but doesn't the handbook say V?7.

Steady on before you shoot yourself in the foot. ... Like you I'm on 15's ....tomorrow I'll take it up with my insurance peeps
1/. Insurance wise you have no need to notify them of a change to an inferior spec and V is not an inferior spec., it is the manufacturer's spec. as mentioned above by a few people.
2/. Many TVR owners have used V rated tyres on the track, driving very hard and found no problems.
3/. Of course you want the best tyres that you can get for your car so fit Z (inc the W and Y sub categories) where ever possible.
Also don't forget: http://www.toyo.co.uk/productdetail.php?identity=p... available in 225/50/15 and 225/45/16.
Or http://www.yokohamatire.com/tires/advan_a048_specs... etc., esp if you only do a few miles a year.
