Ok I have just had my cooling looked at, override switch fitted for peace of mind.
Just been out for couple of hours & noticed temp climbing so I flicked the switch...nothing! So popped bonnet and the fan appears to have siezed, you can see where the end of the blades have been striking the cowling. I managed to free it off & sprayed some WD, but still no life? I reckon it's probably popped a fuse & that the fan itself is fooked??

Also had new battery fitted & new alternator as it was struggling to start. When 1st started from cold after being trickle charger she fires up as normal, but for the rest of the time when it's turned & re started it really struggles. All the symptoms of a flat battery, except it's not, it's charging beautifully....starter motor?? Nothing else left is there?
What starter is it, simple to swap out?

Sorry long winded....you have to love these Wedges & their superb timing, bless their little oily valves rolleyes

Have heard of few problems with the starter motors getting cooked on V8s and then turning slowly although they have good power to them!! Not sure how true this is though. Not had this problem on my wedge or my old 3.9 Rangie yet!!

I've dumped the otter switch and simply gone for manual overide. It's more re-assuring knowing you control when the fans kick in amd out. I must say though since the switching over to carbs and re-coring my rad I no longer suffer from the rising temp syndrome when tooling along in traffic as there is no far much less heat soak than before...

Re the starter problem check the earth strap from battery to engine, make sure both ends are clean, and slacken off the alternator, clean and re-tighten the mounting at the bottom, as this can affect the charging.
