As we all know, TVR used many parts from other car manufacturers. I thought I'd start this forum for people (like me) who are looking for bits for their Wedge and would like to know from which manufacturer/model the bits come from.

I'm going to start off by asking what car (make/model/year) the mirror lenses for a S2 350i circa. 1987 came from? (for the wedge shaped, purpose built door mounted pods).

I think they're specific to the car. Your local Glazier should be able to cut you a pice which you can then attach.

OK thanks. Was hoping to get convex glass as fitted. I'll see what the glazier can do.

They've been claimed to come from various small French hatchbacks of that era but I don't know how true that is; Halfords never seem to have anything remotely the right size or shape and most of their older car mirrors are special order only.

TVRwedgepages used to have a list of donor cars but even that often won't help or isn't necessary: most of the donors are just as rare as Wedges now so in some cases you're as likely to find a TVR being dismantled as the donor anyway. Besides that, most service items are as freely available from your local motor factors as TVR 'specialists' and often cheaper.

Off the top of my head...

Cortina front balljoints, track rod ends and suspension bushes (but the steering column U/Js are a bit of a special)

Granada brake pads and discs (but Austin Princess calipers an option), front wheel bearings

Usual Rover V8 engine spares - oil filter, spark plugs, HT leads, rotor arm and distributor cap, coil and ignition amplifier

Rover V8 SD1 clutch - though some variations exist

Granada rear wheel bearings

Jaguar XJ6 rear brake pads

Suspension/ antiroll bar bushes can be had as original rubber or several grades of polyurethane

Prop- and half-shaft UJs are standard items use on a myriad of vehicles, order by size for simplicity

Aside from that, Cortina door handles, SD1 or Fuego rear lights, Fiesta bonnet and boot catches, Hillman Imp boot hinges, TR7/Esprit headlamp motors, old Lucas or Renault 12 front sidelight/ indicators, Fiesta wing repeaters, TR7 or SD1 steering column, Cortina rack, Capri expansion tank... all part of the fun wink

Did you know that the later door handle parts had 'TVR' cast in? Mid life R12 (R made 3 versions) late cars had Ford (Sierra?) steering columns etc. Someone even tried to start a trend of fitting NASCAR engines...

Indeed! They were Mk 3 Granada columns IIRC. My car has the logo'd handles. In black, rather than chrome biggrin

Boot hinges - Hillman Imp
Lower driving lights although CiBi airports Pug 205 GTi fit and are cheaper!
Front side lights - Reliant
Headlight lift motors - TR7 recon from Rimmers

Seem to remember that MGF mirror glass is very close match, at least as a temporary replacement for legal/MOT compliance.
