Hi

I've just purchased a lovely restored 1981 Tasmin. All is good except the reverse gear is way too easy to select when trying to select the fist gear! frown Also the fist gear can sometimes be tricky as well.

Does anyone have any solutions for this problem? I've heard that a good start is to try replacing the plastic Gearstick 'Saddle' (type 9) which can shatter/wear? Other than that, not sure what else it could be?

Thanks,

Darren

I have a 4 speed (E type) so this may be totally not applicable but the Bible says they are basically the same so...

My problem was not on the 1-R side but on the other side, sloppy like I almost had a 5th and 6th gear. The problem was this yellow-ish plastic bushing:

which fits under the screw-off dome where the shifter goes into the transmission. Easy fix from the top down. Grady

Thanks for the info a pic Grady. I'm going to be taking off the transmission tunnel to see what's what and will let you know how I get on. Thanks again.
