Last few times ive been out in the wedge, when starting up the selecting reverse or forward gears it is really difficult to select lots of crunching. Pedal is on the carpet when trying to select gear, Then when i get the car out and drive forward for about 100 meters the problem disappears and dos'nt return til after i park the car up in the garage and leave it for a week or so then start it up again the process repeats itself?????? Baffelled yes just a bit?

Any ideas lads?

I have had the gearbox oil replaced every year up to now so ruling that out.

It sounds as though there may be air in the clutch hydraulics or something similar.

Try pumping the pedal a few times the next time you start up.

Is the fluid level OK? When was it last changed?

If the fluid is not being lost then suspect the Master Cylinder seals.

hi jeff
It be worth checking if not already do so, your chutch fluid, as two years ago i had a simular problem which got worse, to the point i could not engage the clutch at all.
If the fluid is black not clear, change it see if things improve only a 5 min job with 2
It worked with my problem.

Sounds like the clutch is dragging, but why?

Try starting it in gear but with your foot on the clutch and keep the engine running for a couple of minutes like this (requires the use of both feet!)

Does the "problem" then disappear when you move off?

Make sure the clutch slave cylinder bolts are not loose or that will reduce the "action" of the clutch lever.

Adam that is exactly what the mechanic at work said, Start the car up in gear and ride the clutch every now and then, could be a bloom or moisture on the plate. Nice one bud ill give it a go. Where is the slave cylinder positioned at by the way. Just to save time looking for it.

Under the car below where your left leg would be. It sticks out of the front of the bellhousing. There's a copper pipe going into it.
