I'm going to have to go for cylinder head gaskets as the car is drinking too much water, stopped every 100miles and topped up with about 4ltr, took us about 7hrs with stops and persisting rain half way home.
Question is where's the best place to get a good set of head gaskets, plenium and stem seal valves going to do them all when everything's off.

Maybe what you need is a bonnet scoop to collect the rain and charge up the water system as you're driving?

Don't mean to alarm you, but it could be more than just HG failure. Cracked blocks / loose liners are something of a problem with 3.9L engines and above, although I've not seen any mention of it with the 3.5's. Is the engine in your 350 still the standard capacity? If so, a test of the coolant will show the presence of exhaust gas usually associated with HG failure.

Yes it is a standard 350. I know where your coming from 7 but there's no leaks at all that i can see so i think it's going through the exhaust.
Will need to try the coolant test.

Do you get much condensation on your gauges? I got some misting up only last month so I think I have a minor leak in the heater area.

If it still does it this time of year then I'd suspect a heater leak. How much water does it use per 100 miles?

Hi Jonny

Sorry we didnt make the wedge fest, Lemans took all the money

Sorry to read about the car, if you need help just call me...

Have you taken off any thing yet, I would try to narrow down what has failed first before any stripping.
I would recommend john Earles for all you gaskets, that where we went for them plus our cluch and other bits.
cheers

Best pressure test the system 1st to see if you have any leaks, some only show under pressure, so your need to pressure it to about 10-12 PSI

I you need to replace the head gaskets, I would go for composite (on standby already if I need to tackle the job myself) and would not do up the outer row of head bolts (if you have an old design). You can find more information on pistonheads if you do a search as well as on sites of the RV8 engine building specialists, were you often can order full sets of gaskets required during changing head gaskets...
