I have now become the proud owner of a TVR 450 SE. The car is Mica Red with grey leather interior. A few mechanical things need sorting out and I have booked it in at a TVR main agent for the work to be carried out. Nothing serious; just small things that have been neglected over the years. It is in amazingly good mechanical and all round condition for a 21 year old car. The body also needs some cosmetic work which I will probably carry out next summer. I intend to eventually bring this car to top condition. It’s the model I always wanted to own but just never got round to buying. Now that its here I will do my best to bring it to its former glory.
Now the performance. Well what can I say? It’s a rocket. I had driven a SEAC many years ago and I can honestly say I can see no difference in the performance. This car is very, very, very lively. It goes just as well uphill as it does down. Open the throttle and this car knows no boundaries. It’s absolutely amazing (it frightens me). Everywhere I go people admire the car and make a comment. Some of the older generation know what the car is and the ones that don’t, mainly the younger generation just look in amazement and confusion. The sound track from the engine tells them this is no ordinary car and one to steer well clear of. What can I say? Absolutely amazing. Have a look at the pictures.

Congratulations Lean Machine on acquiring what looks like a beautiful 450SE. Having driven one of these cars I agree that it is a very sweet ride. Enjoy your wedge ownership.

Congratulations sir.

It's funny reading the comments because I have a sister car to this (same colour 450 - tan seats / red dash though) and if there was only one thing I could change it would be to a different colour !

Are you sure it's mica red as I thought that was, well, redder. Mine says a Ford colour, can't remember at the moment what but it isn't that ?

It looks similar in colour to my 350i and mine sais Maroon on the logbook or could just be the pictures.

already looks in very good condition.
Now remember these are built for driving, thrashing and at the same time if you have the kids in the car embarrassing the crap out of them .
have fun

I have a feeling that it's Ford Regency Metallic Red - a quick google images search show that if not it's very similar and that's what is on the little nail polish touch up set that came with my car.

As you say though maroon or burgundy, mica red being much closer to a Ferrari blood red. Not that I wish to be wearing an anorak and nice car either way !

I was told by the previous owner that the colour of my 450se is Mica Red but I was not given a code. When I ordered a sample of Ruby Mica Red PA49B it turns out that this is not the colour. My car is infact a darker and more aubergine type of colour. So guys. Any other suggestions?

Sorry for coming into this nearly 3 years late, but if you do get this, I've just bought my first Wedge.
And I'm pretty sure it's this colour.. Al be it a rough version, however it's having a full respray soon.
Would love to know the colour myself, did it ever get resolved?

Congrats on the the car fella, I think you might find its also called Night Fire red as it looks very similar to my car.

As to performance, well in my opinion a well sorted 450 will more than hold its own to a SEAC. Thats why in a way I went down the 500i route with mine, trust me with a Griff 500 in, these cars sound lovely and fly!!! yes
