An article "TVR The Full Story" is due to appear in next month's Octane magazine on sale 25th August.

Advertisement in current issue says "Every production model, from Grantura to Sagaris. Which is best? And are the Blackpool brutes now set to make a comeback?"

There is also the rider "Contents may be subject to change." If they haven't already written the article and closed the mag for production, maybe a few of you chaps can put forward your cars to be featured? Of course, they may already have selected certain cars to show in the mag.

email info@octane-magazine.com
editorial office 0207 907 6585 but based in Wollaston, Northamptonshire.

Alternatively, reserve your copy now!

That article is related to the numerous Tvr's going to Bruntingthorpe a few weeks ago doing a photoshoot.Seeing a very nice green Grantura one morning early then saw it coming back later and then about eight other Tvr's soon after along with Dave Mathews in his white wedge at the local petrol station !

In the current issue of Octane there is a review of a 'definitive' history of TVR up to 1965 by Peter Filby. I think this is due to be the first of three books on TVR by him. Described as being an excellent book but with some poor picture quality.

Bought a copy of that book at BBWF and had a chat to Mr Filby. Book looks good, just thumbed a few pages so far.

Peter Filby's book is an excellent read. It makes you realsie that the recent history of TVR is nothing new, lurching from one crisis and bankruptcy to another. The book is very well written and makes to want to keep reading, I've very nearly finished reading it and can't wait for the next one. I for one knew very little about TVR's early history and this is filling a huge gap in my knowledge. I can't wait for the next one although Peter Filby told me the third volume really depenfs on the success of these two first volumes.

A lot of the photos are period ones and as a result are bound to be poor, any of the pics taken in recent times are excellent so that's an unfair criticism.

Well worth buying.

Back on topic I fail to see how an article in Octane can be 'The Full Story' when compared to the work put in over nearly three years.

Yes V8 GRF - I agree on your point comparing the article due next month and the book; the book is bound to be much better. I didn't realise it was on sale at BBWF. Comments re photo quality was just as the book review described. I'll have to get a copy - or ask the library to get one!

Just got my copy of 'Octane' magazine.

Only a brief sidebar about Wedges, unfortunately, but this did include a quote from 'Car' magazine from some time ago saying '350i best sports car since the Ferrari 275GTB' !!! But then they did say thet the original 2.8 coupe was rather good - I wish I still had that issue of 'Car'.

The rest appears to be the usual stuff covering the different models - plus the usual stuff on the re-emergence of TVR with Corvette power.

Rush out and buy a copy!

I've got that issue - Feb 1980 wasn't it? They called the original Tasmin 'one of the best cars they've ever driven'.

Is there supposed to be a copy of the article re the Wedge in that post or on Flickr? Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Can you upload a copy of the article or please send me one via pm? Thanks.

There is, but you have to scroll around (to the right) to find it.
Then much screwing up of the eyeballs to read it. smile
