Hi all

My 350i has been intermittently not starting turns over fine but appears to be no spark or fuel on plugs, then will start fine! I think it will be a sticking relay or similar, just started to look at the wiring diagram there appears to be 2 ignition relays and a main relay - I haven't traced all the lines yet. Can anyone confirm my thoughts? if so which relay likely and where I might find the main relay! This started to happen when I got stuck in the queue for the Farnborough air show (wasn't even going) and things got a little warm. Nigel

Sounds like the symptoms of ignition amp failing (mounted on the side of the dizzy)

you might be right there - there is a click from that area when it starts and no click when it doesn't!is this still DAB135 as in the bible?

Wouldnt be a click from the amp, its solid state. Ignition amplifier is a bit of a kingpin though - if it fails, you'll have neither spark (because it drives the coil primaries) nor fuel, because the amplifier output is also fed into the ECU and is the ONLY thing that tells the ECU to fire the injectors.

I got a known good genuine Lucas one if its needed. Not that old either.
