Had a bit of an off at Loton park today and cracked the front spoiler. Does anyone have a spare one for an '88 350i? Cheers, Steve

When I had a slight altercation with the kerb....... then the central reservation barrier........ the bib spoiler was in a few bits. The garage rebuilt it, they had the technology..... OK I suppose it was the equivalent of selotape but with glass fibre and with a bit of care it now looks as good as new.

Thanks Dickie. Can you remember roughly how much it cost? I'm on a bit of a budget. We race the car in the Speed Championship, so I'm not after concourse condition. Just something that's functional. Cheers, Steve

Hi Steve

The bib spoiler was £65 and the rear spoiler was £135 I think
I would have though it was relatively cheap to make one out of Aluminium or such
although I did have to cut mine down as it was scraping everywhere (over speed bumps etc)

He used to have a website with pics and stuff but seems to have gone more into signs now

Thanks for all the recommendations. I've managed to cobble together a (not particularly attractive) repair that should see us through the rest of the season. I may revisit doing a more professional job at the end of the year. Cheers, Steve

If you want to fit a splitter, the same as I have on my racer, let me know.

How easy would it be to fit a SEAC front splitter to a 1988 350i? I've never really played with fibreglass so not confident about doing too many mods. Steve

Don't think it's detachable on the SEAC, but part of the shell. I doubt any of it would line up anyway, have you seen the wheelarch flares on a SEAC compared to a 350i...?!

You might have more luck with a 390SE spoiler (two designs) but even then the arches have a fair bit of flare.

I've never seen a bib spoiler on a 350i...only on 400/450SE.

Was this 'retro-fitted' ?

One of the Wedgers on here fashioned one out of a length of plastic drainpipe didn't he ?

You thinking of the thing just ahead of the wheels, underneath? I don't think that's what the OP has in mind...

That's right Ian, but I got the impression that some of the replies were referring to the bib type.

a few of the Racers have a 2-3 foot SEAC front end that can be fitted to a 350
But your have to remove quite a bit off the front of the car.

I don't really have any fixed idea about what's best. Had a conversation with another sprinter on Sunday who suggested we need to lower the front end to reduce drag. The SEAC spoiler was just a first thought - any better/simpler/cheaper ideas would be welcomed.

Depends on how much you don't mind chopping your car up, or how original you want it looking.
I use a separate spitter on the racer that bolts on. it's 4 inches deep.
Click on image for larger picture, its the black bit under the chequered front.

My car has a wider spoiler than the 280's. It's a very early 350i, from the first batch of 35. Is it the kind of shape you are after?

That's the kind thing. I think we've come to the conclusion that anything we do to the car for racing won't add to the market value if we come to sell it, so we're kinda prepared to chop it about a bit. With the proviso that I'm not the most mechanically minded, so trying to minimise how much I have to get other people (and therefore paying them) to do it! Oh, and we need to keep it road-legal as we drive to all the events.

Is your splitter in one piece, or is the black bit "bolted on" to the chequered bit?

The black bit is bolted to the chequered bit, as said it about 4" high so not sure if this will make it too low if you just bolt it on. if you in the South east you could pop over and have a look
Also I think there are 2 designs a S1 and S2

Other option due to me breaking my last one, I still have 1/2 of it, so could let you have that just so you could see if it would fit.
