Not sure if they are the same as the 400 se, but I recently put a land rover defender on
e on mine, slightly larger than the original and a lot better pedal, look on eBay for Capri sport, only thing is you have to turn master cylinder over and put a t into the front brake pipes

When mine went the garage had to chase girling for the part using the numbers off the casting. Cortina xyz didn't work.

Sadly the casting number means very little other than who made the casting, what is needed is the colour and number off the plastic tie that is (was)around the cylinder. smile

Sorry didn`t mean to sound so abrupt, the casting number will help to narrow it down, but they then use the same casting and bore it different diameters, then they either machine or not the pipe connections and before long you have a lot of cylinders all with the same casting number, again sorry if I came across as a know all,the reality is far different.smile

Many Thanks for all the help and advice - I have a new cylinder from Brake Parts as suggested by Tempus - perfect match - delivered next day and all in just £46 - a good result just have to persuade the resevoir to fit tightly onto the new cylinder.
Cheers

Don't know if it is of any help. I used a tie wrap around the reseviour and cylinder this ensured that it stayed in place when working about the engine compartment.
