After reading Dave Merediths compression test thread, and this one in general gassing ( http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...), they got me thinking what high mileage wedges are around out there?

Mine's done just over 107,000 miles. But I'm certain there are higher ones out there. I suppose it's the the same as any other car, and providing they're regularly serviced they should keep on going. I know the rover V8 engine carries on with many more miles in other cars.

It all depends on how it has been treated, modern oils and fuels are very good at protecting and engine - the right foot also has quite an effect on overall long term life.

The Rover V8 is a very strong unit, it has a few design flaws but in general terms and standard spec should be good for +150k miles before major rework. TVR had some tuning work which will effect the longer term life but, with good service and some good long runs with lighter right foot the engine should be good.

Cor blimey, those time stamps, bit of a delay there. One of the double posts must have gone around the other way.

Mine is over 120000 but a rebuilt motor around 70000 odd.

118,500 on mine... rebuilt at 102,000 but apart from some scoring due to broken rings, the bores had no appreciable wear.
