help needed for wifeys car......not a tvr

Any ideas,fuel pump packed up on wifeys car(merc a class)She went to collect it today from garage after a new fuel pump and filter and could see there was no working fuel gauge.Told garage who replied because there was not much petrol that it wouldn't show until filled up, because it was new.So wifey filled up and still nothing.Went back to garage and they said after two hours further that it wasn't the sender as one would think but it maybe the instrument cluster.WHY? This worked fine before going in .Any suggestions?Will have to go back anyway,after paying £470,which included new pump and fuel filter,+oil and filter change.Any suggestions?Thanks in advance Mike

Maybe they pulled a wire off and ain't put it back on!

Thats their problem if it went in ok. Sounds like they are just trying to fob you off. Dont take no s**t off them.

It's probably because they emptied the tank.
Computer may need to be told where empty is.
Mech should call the Merc dealer and find out how to do it.
