Hi peeps..spoke to garage a min ago and the passenger side downpipe has been bodged at one point..its been hammered flat instead of bent and the flange doesnt even marry up..Have spoke to ACT performance and they have spoke to JP but no one has a jig and i cant send the old one as its wrong..would anyone know if the 280i(1982 Y reg) were generally the same and has anyone got an old one to make a new one from.. On the V8 - the passenger side manifold often has a hammered flat portion to make it fit .. done at the factory.

Cheers mate..could be what it is..Just spoke to a guy that RT put me in touch with and he said ang on lets av a look in me book of words..rustle..rustle..Then he described it like he had a pic of it..Touch..hes gonna quote me in a bit..

You mean a carefully engineered solution involving thumping the pipe with a ruddy great 'ammer!

It's not unusual - they hammer a flat into the pipe to clear the chassis. It isn't completely flat of course, just a little bit on one side.
