I do realise that our vastly superior Wedges mostly have LSDs as standard hehe BUT just in case you wanted to check, and people HAVE asked before now, here's a simple little vid'. smile

... and you can do exactly the same thing on the car, just jack up the back.

Was LSD standard on the 400SE?

The 'quick' way to check for an LSD is to look for the little metal tag under one of the bolts that holds the diff rear cover on, stamped with the leters 'PL' for 'PowerLok'.
Or look for the 390SE badge.... silly

Yes,standard on 390 and upwards.

On 280s and 350s I believe it was optional.

Then again, over the years things are replaced/upgraded on Wedges, as you'll know.

There have been one or two people asking how to check.

The other way to check is, with the car stationary in first gear wind the revs round to about 5,000 and drop the clutch and floor the throttle.

If you leave a long black number 1 behind you, not a slippy diff.

If it leaves a long black number 11 you have a slippy diff, happy days! biggrin

Also if you put the wrong oil in, it soon becomes an non LSD

Worth noting that alot of the old V6 Tasmin racers run open diffs - they tried the Powerlok diffs and found there wasn't enough power from the engine or weight over the rear axle to get them to work properly which lead to some interesting moments, with the diff locking then opening then locking again etc.

I suppose that's understandable too, seeing as that diff was expecting nearly 2 tons of XJ6 to be sitting on it. yes

Can be set up to work with light cars without great expenditure. My sub 900 kg M runs a 4HU LSD without issues, as does NTEL's Tazthing.

Mine running one also on mine, but I think we all have a lot more power than a road going 280.

Had a not very enjoyable season this year plagued by gearbox problems which when resolved were replaced by fuel and ignition issues. blabla

Tuscan grids were poor this year and I don't see it improving. Combine that with racing that lasts for around 5 laps (if there is anyone to play with) before you have to start mirror watching for the class A cars....time-out for rethink and new series for next year. scratchchin

Car work starts next weekend with fault diagnosis (fuel and ignition) then some light refurbishment and minor mods to improve reliability and make the car a little prettier. Testing to fllow early part of next year and then ready to go an play in the Classic and Sports Car Club Future Classic series.

Will be out at Oulton, Donington, Mallory, Anglesey, Cadwell, Spa, and the Nordschleife (if dates fall kindly). smile

Ok, will look out for you...must go and check out the new Donington track anyway.

Don't see how you can improve upon your car's looks really. It's an absolute beaut. smile

Thanks for that G. redface

Tidy up list consists of rear light arragement tidy, new seat, carbon door cards, dash mods and some new lightweight bumpers for all 4 corners (and loads of pre-season polishing) biggrin
