Removing Headrest

'86 280i (US version). Do the head rests just pull up and out or is there a trick? (They don't want to come out with a "gentle tug" and I don't want to break them.) Thanks

ETA: Title should be "Headrests" plural.

Dunno if they are the same as mine grady a single chrome shaft in the middle, mine was solid i wedged it free with a couple of screwdrivers done the trick no damage.

They should pull straight off - just mind it doesn't whack you in the face or go flying into orbit

I thought that they didn't move until I took mine apart to redo the squab. Just needs a good pull to get it moving. Looks a bit odd raised all way up
