some time ago,I bought a piece of test kit called a G-Tech pro.
its a small box - like a radar detector - that you fasten to your windscreen and plug into the cigarette lighter. It will then measure the acceleration of the car and can give redings for 0-60,standing 1/4,60-0 etc.
If you enter the weight of your car, it can also work out the BHP at the rear wheels when you do an acceleration run.
The TVR quoted weight for a 400se is 1050 Kg which I'd heard may be slighlty low !! took it to a local weighbridge and with no driver and half a tank of fuel got a reading of 1260 Kg - good old TVR !!
anyhow spent Monday night annoying the locals doing acceleration runs down a nice flat bit of road and got a 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds and 196 BHP at the wheels - which would be about 235 BHP at the flywheel allowing for a 17% loss.
dont know how accurate it is - dont care - its very entertaining.
cheers Andy

Sounds like a gadget i'd like! how much?

Does it tell you when the rear wheels are about to let go on a wet surface like mine did yesterday? (just one of many cupid stunt moments from my illustrious past)

Just read the link + 160 quid is quoted

I bought mine off ebay.com from America
paid $49.95 - which I think is a good price
just search on - g tech pro
does lateral G as well - not tried this yet.
how do you do it ?? just keep driving faster and faster round an island until you spin off into a hedge ??!!!

The killer thing about the figures is how it changes the BHP/tonne figure
TVR quote 275 BHP and a weight of 1 tonne = 275 BHP/tonne
actual figure is 236 BHP and a weight of 1.2 tonnes = 196 BHP / tonne
not so good

cheers Andy
