Hi all
I took the sx out today as the weather was great and i can say its been well worth the wait, she ran so smoothly it was a joy to be behind the wheel, but i must say its a pain haveing to keep the revs down for running in purposes.
With all the problems she has sufferd in the first year of ownership i did have some reservations half way through if it was ever going to end.
I have one more chance of a drive out tomorrow before she goes off to be retrimmed on tuesday so happy days are on the way and can't for BBWF.
As soon as she back from the trimmers i'll post some pictures.

Happy wedging Chappers.

Thanks mate...I cannot help but think what is more worthy for mine...Getting a V8 with gearbox = £3,500+ Fitting (£1,000)..A rebuilt 2.9 cozzy with fast road cams..big bore valves..Etc..£2,500 + Fitting or selling it as is and putting £2,000 towards it to get a V8..Im thinking the latter as mine should fetch around £1500-1700 even though its cost double that and i probably wont get that for it but it certainly doesnt warrant spending nearly £8,000 as much as i love it..I know they all have their issues and all need regular maintenance...I did rush in a bit in the begining so i need a practical answer from people who have experience in this field...Many thanks..Mark

Your face, my arse? ;^)

Sorry, couldn't resist....

Confucious he say, the path to a V8 is usually cheaper if you sell what you have and buy a V8.

May as well just get a V8 Wedge.

That's what I did (390SE) after all sorts of ideas for upping the power on the 280.

I had both for a while, nicely matching in Ferrari Red, but you can only drive one at a time.

£1,000 fitting could be a bit optimistic, depending on if your chassis is one of the laster wider ones, and has the mounts to take a Rv8, and Gearbox.
Also you need new manifolds and Exhaust. and a new radiator, plus you may have to re-locate it.
You may have to change your prop-shaft, also depending on engine spec. you may have to get uprated Drive shafts and UJ's and then you still have poor brakes and wiring, so you need to have a good think and idea what your getting into in you go the modification route. (comeing from one of the few people who have done it (and the one one with a S1 chassis, without modifying the chassis).

Cheers mate..Maybe the can of petrol and a match isnt such a bad idea...Realistically though it makes more sense to get rid and start again..I did want a V8 to start with..Ive seen some right bargains pass me by a few times..Hopefully ill have one by the time BBWF comes around...Cheers..Mark

Wait until early spring and then it should sell ok, and more V8s to choose from. smile
