Morning chaps,

I'm constantly umming and aahhing about where I should next be spending cash on upgrading the wedge, ideally I'd like to do everything at the same time but my cash flow would never allow that. So to start off this year do I concentrate on:

a) sourcing and installing a powerlok diff - I did have a bit of tin fall out of the diff on the last oil change, so it probably isn't that far away from failing, plus an LSD could be quite nice on track
b) sourcing and installing some princess brakes and vented discs - front one's aren't up to much really, and cook quite quickly. Diving into breidscheid with only one front brake doing anything is a bit alarming.
c) getting the suspension properly setup by Mr RT - it's currently got new adjustable shocks, springs & bushes all round, but the geometry really isn't that great. But it would make most sense to do this after fitting a diff I guess?

More power is always tempting, but I reckon I need a bit more control first!! driving

Any thoughts on what you would be doing? Or even does anyone know of any bits & pieces for sale?

Cheers,
Chris

Hi wombat if it were my money and you have already rebushed the suspention i would start with the geo setup.
On your car you should be able to do caster front rear toe front rear and rear camber.
Im sure the car would feel better on the road and track.
Second i would get some higher temp spec pads till a set of brakes come avalible but with better handleing may mean less brakes.
The bit of tin that fell off your diff, could it be the id plate? but a power lock would be better, im sure they cant cost a lot there must be loads avaible.
Well thats my idears.

I would say so. There must be some difference from tolerences in the width of the diff to be accounted for by the shims.

How about trying to get cold air to the air filter?

I just happen to have a Powerlock LSD unit sat in the garage doing nothing. Was going to fit it to the race car but it wouldn't fit my 4.1 / 1 ratio. Also have a full open diff complete and a stripped down open diff. All 3.54 / 1 ratio.

Hi Mate..How about upgrading your air mass meter to a bigger bore then adding a cold air pipe,Heat resistant smooth bore or a sleeved steel feed which is lagged and whack it down at the front vent and stick a Cone K&N on it or an induction kit..You might only see 4-5 more BHP in some cases but it will sound fcensoredg awesome..Ziga

Cheers for the thoughts guys, air filter is an easy (and hopefully cheap) thing to look at.

I'd be wary of K&Ns, they don't filter as much as the original sponge type. Trying to get cold air from the front of a 350i is much more difficult than the 280i.

Having my 400 set up on a rolling road released another 15bhp and 20lbs of torque, with fuelling within safe limits too.

Should cost only £60-£80. smile

I did have an adjustable fuel reg' fitted at the same time, and that was about £75, but you may not need that.
