Just having a clear up, and came across these pictures, some 1982 in 'build' factory pictures, 1982 NEC show pictures and the regular press picture.....

Chris, were the bodywork revisions just created on the car with plywood, resin, filler etc. or did they actually create moulds for the rear end etc. with the changes in them?

I'd be interested to see under the bonnet.

I'm a 'maybe' for BBWF at the moment, I'll have to see how things are nearer the time.

Well that should give you an excuse to come to BBWF as I am certain the bonnet could be raised for a donation for charity!

Ian,

A funny (now) story....

When I rebuilt the car, the chap doing the body work ordered me to his site to show me the bonnet. He hit it with a soft pad on an angle grinder - 1/2" of body filler then 1" of bonding paste then 1" of polystyrene. To quote "I can repair it but it will be cheaper to make a new bonnet", the old bonnet was repaired and a mould taken from it....

The same with the rear bumper!

Then he took a bolster chisel and a club hammer to the rear wing - 1" of filler about the size of your hand, all filler was removed from the body on one side and replaced with GRP/tissue, the the other side was given the same treatment, it did hike the bodywork bill to just over 4K (in 1994/5).

On the day I purchased it...

A few years later...

it's since had an engine rebuild, long story, but improvements to name a few were a better set of pistons, better cam, better HT leads and ceramic coated exhaust components from manifold to tail pipe. A RR print post rebuild...

HP

Torque

It is running low(ish) boost for the engine internals, I will increase it slightly when I get it out next.

If you do come along to BBWF I would be happy to take you out for a run in it.

Chris.

Wow, that looks very nice!

That must go very nicely with those power and torque curves too!

Good work, sir!

Lovely car...and more powerful than most V8s ! eek

I hadn't realised that the rear end had been re-styled too, having previously only seen pics of the front.

I wonder if they took some of those bodywork 'techniques' forward to the 'White Elephant'. smile

I venture to suggest that the Turbo would give MOST of the big-capacity V8 cars a run for their money smile

Odd flat-spot about 3000-3500 Chris, what's that all about?

It's the wastegate opening, quite normal on bypass wastegates I believe. Not noticeable whilst driving though.

What's it like in the wet though - all that torque coming on after 2000 rpm must be "interesting"!

It's running on SO2's which are excellent in the wet (steer well clear of 'ditch finders') and gently on the loud pedal.

The front, the rear and the bit in the middle are all different to a 'standard' wedge.
