Whats the job like, any things i need to look for or is it a simple job? Seems to be water bubbling out of the bolts nearest the front of the engine on the inlet manifold side

It's not too bad - just bear in mind if water is leaking under the manifold gasket its going to end up in the sump eek

When you remove the manifold you'll get some water going down the valley so you'll have to do an oil change.

It is also a good opportunity to have a look at the cam biggrin

If you drain the cooling system first there shouldn't be more than a few drops of water lying around in the manifold, you'd probably get more in the sump from condensation.

EDIT: ar53, Jeff, ignore the bit about the fuel lines, I was thinking you had a V6, sorry... paperbag

Make sure you get the new style composite gasket, also best get some new end gaskets, your need to fit these with a bit of RTV, also if you split the plenum base from inlet your need some blue hylomar.

If so a separating tip, once you take the bolts off, refit the main plenum top, this will give you something bigger to get hold off, and give you better leverage.

I've drained an engine using the block taps but still got water into the oil, but you could be lucky, but unless you have just done an oil change then I'd do it any way.

Ah cobblers, it's easy enough Jeff. The worst bit I find is the backache from having to lean so far over the bloody wings (don't forget some blankets, you will swear like a Geordie if you drop a spanner and chip the paint)...

https://www.lrdirect.com/lkj500020g-gasket-manifold-inl/

or just search for lkj500020(g) on any of the LR or V8 suppliers.
Your also need 2 x ERR7283(g) VALLEY GASKET SEAL
There are normal 3 grades of replacement parts.
() no extra info these are the cheapest replacement
(g) = OEM i.e. original copies
(GEN) Genuine items 2-3 times the price of (g) and you may not even find any difference.

Not due to a leaking head gasket is it - hence excessive cooling system pressure?
Might be worth getting a garage to do the sniff test thing in your coolant water.

Its leaking very slightly from the bolt hole at the front of the right bank of 4, and from underneath the heater matrix hoses at the back of the engine.
Havent really had high pressure cooling problems just a few leaks here and there.

I know they're not cheap but I've found silicone hoses seal far better than rubber and they seem to cope with being undone, removed and refitted without a problem.
