Your better off, blanking it off and fitting one that goes in a hose joiner.

Or (rather than blanking) solder in a threaded fitting, use a screw-in sender and all the wiring stays intact.

It is M22x1.5 which is a common size in hydraulics, if you go to a hydraulic place they will have a brass blanking plug. I got one in Leicester somewhere for a couple of quid.

Rich didn't realise you are East mids till I just looked at your profile. I've got a blanking plug somewhere if you want it. I'm in Bingham.

Ebay have a few but check temp range for fan on/off and ditto to the replies regarding location, I moved mine from the radiator to the thermostat housing but my radiator sensor was just a push fit and clipped in place so just disconnected it and routed the wires to the housing, took the opportunity to install and override as well.

That's OK for the 280i but the RV8 models have the rad in the nose cone which is somewhat tricky to get to. TVR blanked mine off and put a sender in the swan neck. The wires bend quite easily.
