I might have it somewhere, I think my bro had a GM1000 in his SAAB 9000. Is that the one with a curved, finned top?

Yeah, that one... I dug the info out yesterday then forgot to scan it! Will do it later tonight once I get back to my place.

Here you go; PM me if you can't extract enough detail when you click on the pic...

ETA: the 8-pin DIN is Pioneers standard connector for their head interfacing at the time, it'll have audio in left & right and a control signal to tell the amp when to turn on. I may have to dig further to find specifics but it should be fairly obvious.

Furgie,

For the price of a new relatively decent amp I would suggest dumping the old pioneer and get an amp that will take a simple RCA input from the stereo.
Unless of course you are trying to keep the system 'in keeping' with era as I am trying to do, although decent pioneer headsets seem to be like rocking horse st recently!!

Hallsie, I think my bro still has his Pioneer Centrate system built around the KEX-900 head, will that do you? biggrin
Lots of flashing lights etc...

Are the leads from the DIN plug a 'figure-8' pair of coaxes for the audio in, plus a black, yellow and blue? Can't be certain from the pic.

Blue was traditionally Pioneer's colour for the electric aerial control. To use the power amp with most head units would need some kind of control signal to tell it when to power-up and the electric aerial control was the usual way - think it's taken to ground to activate the unit. Unfortunately the info I have in this file doesn't go that far; I'll see if I can dig out the Pioneer workshop manuals for the Centrate system as that may shed some more light.

Hallsio: it worked last time I saw it; it was a ludicrously expensive system when new, about £1000 for the head unit and it doesn't even have a radio in it, you had to buy the tuner box separately! It's essentially a cassette deck with flip-down front (in 1988!), graphic equaliser, spectrum analyser and CD controller... it would only work if you added front and rear amps, tuner, CD changer etc.
This once came from a crashed Merc in 1992 as I recall, I had it in my Skoda Rapid (was worth more than the car!) and it was then in my Tasmin until I sold it to my bro. about ten years ago!
In the Tasmin I made a fake to disguise it as a 30-year-old piece of cr*p otherwise it'd have been stolen on the first night rolleyes

Here's three of them stacked up showing the different display modes...(Edit: sorry, just realised the top once's a CD player...paperbag)

scratchchin A thing of beauty. In fact I think it would look nice in my car... hehe

Might also be a bit excessive in the Tiv, especially as Im trying to keep it 'kinda' standard!!

Have a root around for another Pioneer flip front in your garage, you must have one in there somewhere!!!

Pm me about the centrate anyway, and perhaps a price! would look awesome in the X type estate!!
