I went to the garden show at Southend on Monday.
(not my usual bank holiday enjoyment, but the mother-in-law has a stall and it gave me an excuse to give the wedge a blast).

In one of the marquees there was a wood turner. I took my cracked and rather sad looking gear knob in for him to have a look at, and he reckons he can make me one out of walnut for about 10 quid - RESULT !!!

Cheers Carl, been searching for a replacement for ages - the one that seemed to fit the bill was the momo anatomico tall wood but according to all the stockists (both here and USA) - it's no longer made by momo and therefore if you see it on a website it is likely they forgot to take it off - looking forward to the day when mine won't wobble around all over the place!..
