I have just put my 350i on PH. Nice tidy car good interior 400 style dash with very good veneer(I think it may have been out of an early SEAC as only 4 gauges in centre with clock by speedo) I have just done a rear brake overhaul and replaced the outrigger bars and all 4 body mounting plates. Only selling because I have found something else interesting. I am looking for around £5500 ish.

I've never really understood this, but can somebody explain why people put reserves on their auctions? If they don't want to let it go for less than a certain price, then why not start the bidding at that price? Do they think that people are going to carried away in the heady atmosphere surrounding themselves and their keyboard, and start tapping lots of numbers into the bid box? Hmmm....

In my experience thats exactly what they do, which is why sometimes stuff can be more expensive on ebay. Low bid price gets it going, and a reserve ensures you get what you want. J

couldn't agree more.. people won't initially bid on something they feel has a set price as there is no perceived bargain - but start at a quid and they seem to convince themselves they want it and get carried away.. £360 for an MOT failure 1992 K reg Seat Toledo is a prime example...
Back on track... best place for searching for a wedge these days does seem to be on PH classifieds.... good luck with the search...

thanks for that ,i think i may have found one but the only trouble is that its the first one i have looked at and the interior is dark , lovely colour though and a big fat noisy exhaust , others are either too far away or i cant get no answer on the phone , but i thought i'd still get to see at least three cars before i go for one of them......

Try and meet up with a local 350i owner - at least they will tell you what problems to look for ...

Did someone whisper outriggers

seen two now but the first one looks the best and it did have a really big noisy exhaust , checked everything plus the outriggers which seemed ok and it all worked as well apart from the handbrake which will be fixed, and it seemed to go as well as my chimaera, but it did pop and spit alot on the overun which sounded great and its candy blue which looks nice ,the only prob is that the interior is dark blue which makes the car look abit old inside.now does 103k miles seem alot for this type bearing in mind that its an 88 model and is for sale at less than 5k? anyway i'm hoping to see another on monday....

That's really only 6.5K miles a year which is by no means a bad thing.. These engines are supposed to run for 250K miles - allegedly.. history is a big issue with any TVR as you'll know from your Chims.. if there is evidence of regular money being thrown at the car it shouldn't be a problem.. the theory is the more a car is used the less trouble it will give (taking into account the obvious servicing etc) - Would seriously recommend a TVR specialist inspection including compression test on any TVR you're buying as could turn out to be a money pit - which assuming you're downgrading to save cash then you could end up spending the difference to sort out any issues... value wise generally feel the only downside of a perceived high mileage TVR is what it will be worth when you try and sell it on... but if like me you intend to be buried in it - you won't care
