Sorting out some old magazines, and came across an issue of Alternative Cars which has a feature on the above car, does anyone know who has/had it. I think Alasdaire McEnzie had it in the late 80s but where is it now? Happy to send the magazine to the current owner.

Chris.

I hope Mr Tank does have the car, I can put it in the same envelope as the cheque for the wedge fest hog roast.

The 350i I remember Alasdair having, he claimed it to be either the first production or prototype, I can't remember which (it was 20+ years ago), I do remember the boot being carpeted in red, which I thought was unusual, and I'm 99% sure the Reg. began YCK as it's a Preston registered number as was my second car, so I sort of remembered it.

I wait for the claim on the magazine....

Hi

My car is the first production DH car.
There was a prototype car and two prototype's/press cars before mine!

I believe one of the press cars is still around, and when I was at the NEC show a man came on the stand and asked about mine and he thinks his is the prototype. He was going to give me and Ralph Dodds his cars details but I haven't had anything and I don't think Ralph has either!

This maybe the car you are talking about!
Would love to find out!

I believe my 350i is number 33 of the first 40. It has a thick bodyshell which carries Tasmin decals on the side and has a wide flared bottom valance on the front spoiler. Is Mr Tank's similar? With the reverse scoops on the bonnet too?

I would love to figure out the chassis no`s,if Dix`s is no 617,then the original post car is 447,the road test car is 466,given that if they were building them at a rate of 21 a month(difference between Dix`s and mine one month earlier)I think I need more reg nos.to fill in the gaps in my guessing game.smile

I would have to guess without a reg. as the chassis numbers and first reg dates can be out of sync. by months,so November `83 smile

The posted car is the earliest chassis number I have come across so far,77 chassis before Andy`s and road registered 2 months before, confusingly the road test car is 58 chassis nos.before Andy`s but was registered 4 months before, the more I look the less I see.smile

Hi

Now chassis numbers.

First prototype was DH5447R1

First press car was DH5466R1

Second press car was DH5507R1

First production car (mine) DH5524R1

I also had DH5544 for a year or so!

The confusion is easly explained, all the Tasmin's no matter what the engine or being a DH or FH followed in consecutive chassis numbers.
