Slight movement in diff(HELP)
Discussion
My 400se as just failed mot, rear offside wheel got small amount of movement from diff.Mechanic unfamiliar with the diff, jaguar from my research. Is this likely to be a simple repair or does it need completely stripping down and if so i guess it will need sending to a specialist, any advice or info greatly appreciated and details of a mechanic in the Dudley area who could sort the problem as i am getting very bored without the wedge.
I think your mechanic will need to be a bit more specific with this symptom. For example, the top of the diff bolts to the chassis with an aluminium beam - the beams can crack / brake, or the diff bushes between the chassis and the beam may be loose or worn. If it's movement at the wheel itself, could be the inner or outer driveshaft uj's are worn, wheel bearing worn (not adjustable), inner driveshaft flange nuts loose, hub to chassis tie bar loose / bushes worn etc etc. You need to quiz him further, or find a mechanc that understands TVR's or at least the very basic / common Jag rear end.
