The hood is attached to the rear hoop which is bolted through into the boot usually with 2 or 3 10mm bolts. The top part of the hood is glued on to the hinged targa section. To remove the hood I would peel of the glued section from the targa section - soak it first with thinners - then unbolt the rear hoop section which will most cetainly be rusted so a squirt of WD40 or plus gaz will be required before hand.
I've done 2 hoods - 2nd time was much easier as I knew what to expect. Getting it off is easier. However, if you are going to a trimmer for a replacement he'll need your old hood as a pattern for the new unless you buy from Autohoods which are ready made ready to stretch & stick into place.

The bolts will be rusted to buggery probably and will need replacing.
There was an interesting article that one of the S series boys put online some years ago that pretty much gave step by step instructions, have a search online. Might have been on one of the S club heaven type websites.
