Hi

I know that engine very well.
When it's in the tank it takes upto 8 hrs to do a plug change, (It was nearly quicker to do an engine change than a plug change) and on a good day it does 2 galls to the mile, I wonder what it does in the SD1!!!!
Also it's not a small engine, there will not be much room left in SD1

That is sweet, i would like to know what kind of gear box goes on to it and is it running on carbs or some kind of injection system and it could be using magnetos or one large dizy.
Still i would like to see in the flesh... nice job.
I wounder where i could get an engine scratchchin

In the tank it ran through a 5 plate clutch with weighs about 1/4 of a ton! In to a gear box with five forward gears and two reverse gears which weighed over a ton! It should have twin magnetos and has twin carbs. Yes twin carbs! The normal BHP was 650 unles it was the early version which was only 560bhp. There was a injected version called a M120 and this had 810 bhp. Ref engines they were selling for £5k fully rebuilt in the late 90's (I had ten)

I've seen this car at PPC Magazine's 'PPC In The Park' at Mallory Park a couple of years ago. I think it's great, the engine is almost comical in that car.

It's very strange when it's on track, as other cars blast down the straight at high revs, then this goes by going just as fast but at about 1300rpm! Very odd, as the sound doesn't match what you see, but very cool!
Charlie Broomfield is quite a character too.
