Hi all,

Hope you are well!!

The latest challenge with the wedge I am looking at is the gear lever. The whole time I have had it there has been a lot of play in the gear lever. In the last two weeks I have poly bushed the gear lever cradle (which was totally shot) and also now changed the balls & sockets on the lever selected shaft....nice job that one!!

Anyway, there is still lots of play....its removed th loose feeling which is great however is far from perfect! the easiet way to describe it is that it is sloppy-very in accurate. When you are selected in a gear, you can move the lever about an in inch left and right!! Third is also very also very akward to get unless you have the knack as it is slightly off centre...

Any idea chaps?? Can't see what else it could be...

Cheers!

Soulds like a box out job if you have already replaced all 4 of the remote housing bushes.
I did my bushed but there is no room up there to play with.
Im sure some one will be along with some thing more usefull.

The gear lever is spring loaded and if not installed probably works as you describe. On the ball of the gear lever there is a hole facing the front of the car, in which a strong spring and a plastic part (plunger?) that sticks out should be located. This is the fiddly part to get the gear lever back in. If it was easy to install the gear stick, these parts are probably missing...
