OK, here's the scenario:

1) Headlights on dipped beam, driving lights OFF - headlights on (dipped) but O/S driving light (only) also on.

2) Headlights on main beam, driving lights OFF - headlights on (main) but O/S driving light (only) also on.

3) Headlights on dipped beam, driving lights ON - headlights on (dipped) and BOTH driving lights on.

I know, I know, check the relays ... I did!

I can't figure this one out at all. Any ideas?

just a quicky .....a short in the multi-plug disconnects in the wheel arch area? could be just a bit of sh1tty water ingress in the plug . Worth a quick clean out?

Bless you Father Ted. I had both pods out today, separate feeds and no common earth. All plugs/wiring in good condition. Thanks for the idea though - Streaky

Haven't checked flashing main beam, the probem is there with lights (dipped beam) switched on. By "common" I was referring to wiring - S

yeah ,so was i , the headlight 'flash' also operates the driving lamps IIRC - maybe a contact has welded itself? i.e. when you power the headlamps the driving lamp is getting an erroneous feed perhaps? good luck anyway

Alternatively maybe there a feed from a diode that has broken down (in electrical terms that is)

Good point FT, I'll check that ... except, it's only the O/S driving light that comes on "automatically", both DLs are fed from the same relay and both come on when DL switch is on.

As there is only one diode in my relay block (unless in true TVR tradition there's another one hidden in the middle of some wiring), i's unlikely to be related.

BTW - started stripping down some old h/lamp motors I bought on Ebay ... one was immediately fixable (and is now on the car) and the other two will provide parts to make one and fix the one that came off the car. If anyone needs a motor once I've fixed these, e-mail me. I'll let you have it for what it cost me to buy plus p&p.
