Hi Peeps..
Dont know whether to laugh or cry..Its only 115bhp at the flywheel, The guy managed to get it up a little bit more but he said there are a few issues going on..
1.The fuel pressure is being lost after i switch off which he said could be either the fuel distributor..The accumulator..Leaking injectors or the non-return valve on the fuel pump..He suggested doing the valve first as it is the cheapest place to start..While it was running he clamped the fuel return from the fuel distributor turned it off then waited 30 seconds and then started it..It started first time, He repeated it quite a few times..This makes sense now as when martin (Rooodboy) was doing some work on it and the back end was up on axle stands facing down a ramp the fuel was not able to return up the fuel line and it started three times on the button.

2.There is a minor air leak somewhere which is interfering with the mixture..Could be a leaky inlet manifold gasket or air plenum gasket..He said its not major but it is causing some problems.
Heres my moody print out...hurl..cry

Ill thank you for not laughing..Cheers..Ziga

Get a bottle of starting pilot and try spraying it on the possible leaking places of the air intake - when the spray hits the hole, the engine revs up.

Yep..It sure was..I hate slowing down for them cameras..Where was you?..

Hi Stu..They charged £120+Vat..I was hoping they would of been able to tell me exactly whats doing it and give it a little tweek and everything would be gravy..I live in dream world..At least the causes have been narrowed down a bit and he suggested doing the cheapest bits first..Thats if he can get a non-return valve for the fuel pump..
I found a place that rebuild and test the fuel distributor and sell the injectors..Its not a cheap fix but im getting there..Hopefully..Cheers..Ziga

I've always thought a R/R session is a (fairly) cheap way of identifying issues such as your car has, and the general health of the engine.

To be honest, a lot of R/Rs will be able to give you an idea of what's going on in an hour's session...usually about 60 quid. smile

For ignition issues try an old-fashioned Suntune/Crypton tune session for about the same price.

It can save buying a lot of parts that aren't actually needed.

My 280 was mis-firing and it cost me one spark plug plus about 30 quid for the test, but at least I knew everything else was working properly.

That's only 7bhp more than my little Suzuki, which weighs over 100kg less!

However...

The premature expiry of my Focus has meant I have had to dip into the Wedge-fund to get a replacement car. So my target of a return to Wedgedom this year has gone for a burton. My fund could not stretch to a Wedge I could sensibly use as a daily driver frown

You have a TVR Wedge - a car with so much sense of occasion and road presence each and every time you rumble down the road for a pint of milk. Cherish what you have, as there are plenty in the know who would give a right nad to have what you have. It always used to make me smile that my 350i used to stop people in their tracks and stare as I went past.

Best moment? At a classic car show, I overheard a little lad said to his dad 'I want one of those when I get bigger'. His dad replied 'I thought you wanted a Subaru like mine?'. The lad replied 'No. I want one of THEM!'

It also doesn't help that I work next door to Martin (Rooodboy), so have to suffer the torment of hearing him burble into work everyday!

Enjoy all things cheese-style Zig! You'll get it tickety-boo in the end thumbup

Rick
