Can anyone enlighten me as to what they are doing, apart from causing a permanent jam. I have been up and down it a fair few times this week and cannot for the life of me see what is the purpose, except to give the scammera van a hiding place.

is this the stuff just South of the Taff's well turn off? If so I have no clue, but just prior to the m4 turn off (heading south) they are knocking a wall down for some reason, I join the m4 at correton so don't know what is happening south of there - I'll ask my FiL he goes that way and he's round tommorrow to discuss getting out of his Gatso tax (good man)

cheers

It strikes me that when they built the bloody thing in the 1970s they did it as cheaply as humanly possible and are now paying the price. It's purely because of how shite this road is (and for that matter how crowded the valley lines trains are) that I got a job 10 minutes from home!

They're turning Nantgarw Hill into a four lane from a 3 lane thus removing a bottle-neck. However, this backs up the traffic all along the A470 and onto Treforest Trading estate. As for what they are doing by Coryton, God only knows.

I've been travelling this road for 12 years and in the last five there have only been about three consecutive months without roadworks.

Welsh Assembly Government, working to piss away your tax dollars.........

i was coming back from brecon tonight and somewhere along the single carriegeway section (alongside the reservoir with the square tower) there was a truck broken down in an awkward position blocking traffic in both directions. thats frustrating waiting in the car for half an hour atleast waiting for the thing to be moved

D'you know it looks like they're creating a long slip lane for the southbound M4 turnoff...

Sorry to resurrect this thread after a few months, but I noticed A470 in the title and couldn't resist posting. I lived in the area for a good three years or so, and one whole year of that I commuted on it to work, and in that time it was always been worked on. Last time I was there, about a year ago, they were almost upto the Upper Boat/Tesco Junction and we're also doing some work a bit farther up near Trefforest itself.
