If I do make it, it'll be the first event but the chances are that the SVA won't be through in time.

Having waited since the beginning of May, I try to put it to the back of my mind!

I have a friend who's causing the delay, last month he screwed up his gearbox £6000 + later he smashed it up on the M25 last week!

Afraid so!

Also, just been told my chassis wont arrive at Ariel until next Friday 29th so now there's no chance I'll be making it!.

I'll keep a look out for the next one.

AAaah I see, I think...the delays are at the factory...as opposed to be being your personal "issues"....????

Well you can always come along in your tin top....

It's always difficult to know where the delays are. I know Ariel struggle to meet demand and provisional dates seem to slip by with some regularity.

My original delivery date was end July and it's slipped back ever since. Of course I could always bid on the one on eBay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ARIEL-ATOM-220_W0QQitemZ4577293492QQcategoryZ18308QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

but it's a 220 and I really want the 245 as there is an easier upgrade path to the 300 if I feel reckless in the future!

Apparently the reason for the delay is down to people being off sick at the frame manufacturer Arch. I don't doubt this as Ariel don't have to spin yarns with me or anyone as it would be easier to just say 'we're swamped under with workload'.

My chassis is now due in next Friday and presently Ariel turn out about 6 each month. I am aware there are delays with SVA - totally beyond the factories control.

My tin top huh! My trusty M reg Mondeo. Wonderful car.

Catch you all soon I hope, I may make it on the 5th, just for a pint or 3.

I've always been tempted by an Ariel, there are 3 on Auto Trader at the moment - but then a day like today comes along and I think....nah!

I know what you mean Lusifer. But I used to ride a bike in all weather and so I think I can handle a few rainy days! In fact, it brings with it a whole new driving experience

Someone raised the subject of seasonal rainfall suggesting now is the time to put the Atoms in the garage BUT, believe it or not, weather stats show we get similar amounts of rainfall throughout the year!

You know, when you want something bad enough, it's amazing how you justify it to yourself

Aye, when I were a lad, I used to ride a Gold Wing in all weathers and all distances. Then one day it suddenly occurred to me that I didn't have to. LOL. I managed to forget all that when I got back into biking and bought a CBR1000 but you know the routine, you give it stick and you have to refuel and the car behind you beats you to your destination or you drive slowly and arrive cold and miserable...and deaf.

I imagine if I bought an Atom, I'd be out in it a lot more often than I use the Corvette, just to feel my face being pulled off. However, my wife would think I was doing something subterfuge and wouldn't come with me as she feels the cold even in the summer.

On the other hand...who cares! LOL. I could be persuaded you know.
