A barrel of oil is half the price it was 12 months ago($71 at time of writing), so why are we only paying ~20p/litre less

and for some reason super unleaded is 3pence cheaper in thornhill than anywhere else in cardiff?

Crude deals are done in dollars.

The pound is worth significantly less vs. the dollar than it was 12 months ago.
