I've been contacted by the organiser of this event to see if we'd like to go along::

We will be holding the event at the Martlesham Heath Park and Ride site (www.suffolk.gov.uk/TransportAndStreets/PublicTransport/ParkAndRide/HowToFindTheSites.htm ) from 10am until 4pm. It will be open to all members of the public, allowing them to come along and have their driving skills tested by our team of IAM qualified Observers. They will then be given advice and guidance as to how to amend their driving style and become a better driver, as well as the option of paying a significantly reduced fee to join the association on the day.

The event is predominantly aimed at those drivers who fall into the under 26 age bracket, although anyone will be welcome, and we will have representation from the local radio and TV stations and some custom car clubs, as well as all the major car dealerships in town. We are also arranging with Suffolk Police to bring along a couple of their top spec'ed high speed pursuit vehicles, and hopefully the TA will be bringing along some Trucks.

Ideally, we would like a few of your members to come along and show off their cars, possibly even to have a run with one of our Observers if they are interested (no pressure!). We have already had contact with the Westfield club, and they are planning to make a day of the event, meeting up to drive over, showing off the cars for a while, then some will go on to do the check runs with our observers. There will be some facilities (eg loos) on site, and there are a couple of nice pubs round about if you wanted to round off with a meal or similar. How you want to run it is entirely up to you!

We would like an idea in advance how many of you will be coming so we can allocate you a plot, so if you could give me an idea of numbers by 31st May, that would be appreciated. You can either allow the public close access to the vehicles, or, if you are concerned about damage, we can arrange for an area to be roped off to keep them at a safe distance (resolving the sticky chav fingerprints issue!)

There would be no cost to yourselves for the event stand.

We would be delighted if you would consider supporting us in this venture, and we are hoping that, if successful, it is an event that can be run on an annual basis.

If anyone fanices going along, please let me know, either on the forum here or by e-mail/PM. Hopefully we can get a few cars along and fly the flag

To get to Martlesham, keep on the A14 over the Orwell Bridge then second exit A12. Straight over 3 roundabouts (I think it's 3, don't hold me to it) but the P&R is at the first roundabout that has traffic lights. Is well signposted.

Hi All

I'm the organiser of this event (for my sins!)

Anyhow, we'd be glad to have as many of you as want to come along - but I'd appreciate it if you could let me know how many of you there is so I can keep some space aside for you!

Day is going to run from 10 - 4 - at the Martlesham Park and Ride site in Ipswich, and the more the merrier

Can you let me know how many of you to still expect?

Ta

Hi, are we still on for this?

As far as I can tell, there may be 7 of us (simpo two, me, ilurvmercs, eccles?, tankerman24, tuxman? and n3il123).

Are we going to meet there? If so what time?

Look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Mike

Hi Mike,
Unfortunately I'm dropping out of this due to a better offer, but that's no reason why the rest of you can't go and enjoy the day. If I was running the PH side of things I'd suggest a 9.30 RV at Toys R Us, next to Tescos on the A12/A14 junction. Someone needs to pick up the baton and lead - how about you? Mail each one with your plans and see what comes back smile

All sounds good to me, not sure that I will be able to stay all day but should be ok for a couple of hours in the morning.

Can someone let me know whether this is a goer or not?

Thanks in advance

Hey all

Well, the event will be running no matter what - but if you'd love to come along, we'd be glad to have you!

I'll keep you a wedge of space set aside so you can park up (and keep the sticky fingers brigade at bay).

If whoever ends up organising wants to PM me, I'll give them my mobile number, then you can get in touch if needed.
