Hi folks,

I usually consider Lavenham to be the last show of the season but wondered if there is anything else to visist/attend/show during September. My Uncle is visiting from the States and as he is a petrolhead, was looking for things to entertain him. It's a shame he can't make it out for Rougham and Lavenham As an ex US forces man I'm sure he would have loved Rougham.

Any suggestions also appreciated for other car/plane things to visit. I'm already thinking about days out at the Brooklands & Duxford museums. He likes all cars but his own P&J is a 1929 (maybe 28, I forget) Model A Ford which he restored last year. (way to modern a shiny for David I suspect wink).

Cheers
Paul

WHY NOT TAKE HIM TO MARHAM IF YOU CAN GET SOME SPACE
WOULD BE PERFECT IF HE IS EX FORCES

I hope to arrange a trip to Hawker Restorations in September. This will be a great trip for anyone into warbirds or specialist engineering as they restore Hurricanes and other WW2 era planes. Other than that there's the monthly meetings until the Christmas Dinner in December.

Thanks for the ideas chaps.

I suspect he won't be here in time for the gala or Marham. The Hawker restoration sounds interesting though, keep us posted.

No Gary, I don't think you've had too much sun, it does look pretty good. Although, he hasn't restored it completely faithfully. He's restored it to use it, which he does frequently I'm glad to say. They are a very practical, reliable and usable classic.

When I was over there last it still looked like this:

I think there are about 800 left that were built over here before Ford set up the UK branch and started to make UK designs. I've only seen this one, another coupe, at shows a couple of years ago. Immaculate, and it was for sale. If I'd had the space and money I would have bought it:

As it has yet to be fixed up, what dates is he over here for?

Not sure yet. He's eligible for free flights with the military, so I guess it will depend on them and availability.

Lovely Model 'A', no way is it to shiney or modern.

Maybe the Henham Steam Rally would be of interest to be held 16th Sept'. Allways a huge turnout of steam, vintage and classic cars.
